A major retrospective exhibition entitled 'Thelwell Country: 70 years of Norman Thelwell' has been touring Britain since July 2003 and attracting record numbers of visitors. It started life at Southampton City Art Gallery and then went to the Mall Galleries and The Cartoon Art Trust in London before transferring to the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead (where Thelwell was born) and then on to The National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket and Exeter City Art Gallery. A smaller exhibition of approximately
60 original cartoons, all with a nature and/or environmental theme, was held in November 2006 at the Nature In Art Museum and Art Gallery in Gloucester, who will also be showing some Thelwell cartoons in their May/June exhibition entitled 'Human : Nature', an exhibition which looks at the impact of people on landscape and environment.
